The Indian Nursing Council is a national regulatory body for nurses and nurse education in India. It is an autonomous body under the Government of India, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, constituted by the Central Government under section 3(1) of the Indian Nursing Council Act, 1947 of Indian parliament.
The APNMC, helps to protect the health and safety of the community by promoting high quality standards for nursing and midwifery education.
The University is the brain child of Padmashree Dr. Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao a legendary figure and Former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. It was inaugurated in 1986. It is a state University established with Act No .6 of Andhra Pradesh Legislative assembly in 1986 .
